Let me write for you a story about my trip to Romania. I’ve been there for almost 2 weeks mostly by the sea. There is a not that much I can say because there’s not that much I did there. I have a lot of opinions about that country and you can read them below.

Arrival

We arrived to Bucharest airport in the late afternoon. The airport was fine, the train station was close so we went by a train to the city. We arrived at Bucuresti Nord Station and it was okay. We came to the street to see a lot of homeless people and trash. We took a bus to the hotel, it was the evening but the traffic was horrible, the ride took us half an hour more only trough the city. The hotel was great even tho we had to look for it in dark streets that didn’t look very safe. The host didn’t even speak English and the hotel had no sign from outside. The next morning we had to early leave to go to the train, traffic was again terrible.

Note: At the hotels they often wanted cash and you have to think about the different currency.

Currency
At the sea

The drive from Bucharest to Constanta was about 2 and a half hour. From Constanta we went to Eforie Nord, a small city by the sea, with the train 20 minutes. The train was small, old and smelly. It was full of people and we tought it won’t even stop at our station. The city was a tourist city with a lot of hotels and resorts. We came to the hotel where were only a few people and we felt like we’re there alone. The host was very nice tho and very helpful. We’ve been there in April that was out of the season and we had nothing to do there. Of course it was our fault that we didn’t come in the season but we couldn’t do another than walk around. Everything was closed there and we had even a few days rain. We went a few times to Constanta. We walked, went to a shopping mall but we didn’t really know where to buy tickets for the public transport. Later we figured out that they sell it in a special small booths. We didn’t do much in Constanta either because of lack of time. I really liked the sea, it was beautiful and clean blue. There were parts of the beach fully from shells. There were a lot of fast foods, restaurants and small shops. Sadly everything was closed. The small train was also a disaster with doors you could open any time trough the drive. But I’m not gonna brag, in some countries it’s worse. Later we figured out that through the season there are new and modern trains driving. After our too long stay at the sea we went back to the capital.

Tip: If it’s not the season, don’t go to the sea, it’s not really worth it.

Note: It is the country with the most stray dogs in Europe.

Back in the capital

We drove with a train back to Bucharest. We bought tickets for the first class, it was almost the same as the second class. Trough our drive we saw a lot of trash outside that made us feel that the country is very dirty.

Note: Tickets were very cheap and the prices in general were low.

We spent 2 days in the capital. We had a nice room. We used the metro and the tram a lot. We also walked a lot. I personally liked Bucharest a lot. It has a nice center, beautiful historical buildings, a stunning park and a LOT of awesome fountains.

Conclusion

There were a lot of things I liked but also I didn’t like in this country. I would say that we saw the real face of the country visiting out of the season. I want to go back to visit some particular sights, they have amazing castles and nature. I don’t want to insult anybody this is just about my experience. I believe that in the season it is more interesting and nice but that cannot cover everything going on there.

Note: It is a cheap destination with an interesting culture and beautiful sights.
