I ended my Baltics trip in Estonia. I loved Tallinn. Here are my experiences and tips from Tallinn. I spent another 5 days there and enjoyed it a lot.

Basic information

Estonia is located in the north. It has access to the Baltic sea. It is another one of the Baltic countries. The national language is Estonian. Knowledge of English is not so high but better. The capital city is Tallinn. It is a lovely city and another capital where we stayed. The currency is €. The train tickets were really expensive compared to the other 2 Baltics. Groceries were also more expensive.

About the trip

We stayed 5 days in Tallinn. I loved that city a lot. It has more tourists, more souvenir shops, the city is beautiful and the people speak more English. It is more modern and has a little Scandinavian vibe. We only saw the capital but there was enough to do. We had a hotel not far from the centre. The prices were higher there but the hotel was nice and clean. We used public transport a lot in the city. The weather was cold, we’ve been there in March and it was still snowing often. We enjoyed the trip a lot and we didn’t have any problems during the visit.

Tip: If you are not used to the cold, take some warmer clothes with you.

Tallinn

We only visited Tallinn during our stay in Estonia because the train tickets were expensive. I loved Tallinn tho. It has an amazing vibe and a gorgeous old town with a lot of sights. I enjoyed the walks a lot. Old town has a lot of beautiful buildings and if you are an InstaQueen it had several amazing spots for beautiful photos. You could find a lot of colourful buildings with cute colourful or vintage doors. Eye catching and stunning was The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. My personal favorite was Kadriorg Art Museum, it is a beautiful building with even more beautiful gardens and park. Must see is also Katariina käik and the Castle. Walking through the old town you find several amazing sights, you just have to get lost in the streets. Everything we visited and even more is in the map below. First I thought that the support for Ukraine is not as big as in the other countries but I was mistaken. We didn’t see so many Ukrainian flags in the city but when we came in front of the Russian embassy there was a lot going on.

Public transport

We didn’t travel inside the country because the train tickets were a lot more expensive. We used the public transport in the city a lot. You can buy tickets in the station or Kiosk. You could also buy a card for a few €. We bought a card for 5 days for like 11€.

Tip: Buying a card is worth it a lot more than buying tickets.

We were using buses and trams without any problems.

Tip: Feel free to use google maps, it was pretty accurate when we were there.

The airport was very close to the city. You could easily get there with a tram.

Food and shops

Worth visiting is the Market hall. It was very pretty and modern. You could find vintage clothes there, a lot of toys and accessories and an antiques. On the bottom floors there was a lot of amazing food and restaurants. The city also has several beaches where you can take a walk. They also have a lot of huge shopping centers with a lot of nice shops.

Tip: Going to Estonia you will need a little bit more pocket money than in the other Baltics.

My trip to Estonia was an amazing ending to my Baltics trip. I’m really happy I had the opportunity to go there and I advise it to every traveler. Estonia has a lot to offer and it is a very interesting country. Also it’s very easy to get to Helsinki from there. You should add it to your list.
